WE DID IT! Hadrian’s Wall Half-Marathon Raises Over £2,000 for Local Young People

On 31 May 2025, our youth club team set out on an ambitious challenge: hiking a 12.4-mile stretch of Hadrian’s Wall, from Chollerford to Steel Rigg, to raise money for the work we do with local young people. We’re proud to say – we made it!

The weather was on our side, the views were spectacular, and the group spirit was unstoppable. From uneven terrain to steep climbs, every step was a team effort – fuelled by flapjacks, encouragement, and a shared purpose.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, family, and friends, we’ve raised £2,153 so far. These funds will go directly toward running our youth club sessions, providing a safe space for young people to connect, grow, and access support when they need it most.

Why We Walked

Our youth club is more than just a place to hang out – it’s a lifeline for many young people. It’s where friendships are built, confidence is nurtured, and mental health is supported through open conversations and positive activities. The money raised through this trek will help us keep the doors open and our support strong.

A Big Thank You

To everyone who donated, cheered us on, or shared our fundraiser – thank you. Your belief in our work means everything. And a special thank you to those who went the extra mile (literally and figuratively!) – we couldn’t have done it without you.

What’s Next?

We’ll be cleaning up Pocklington and doing some sponsored litter picks. We will also be holding a jumble sale on 5th July, and we hope to run a charity auction later in the year too! If you missed the fundraiser and still want to support us, there’s still time to donate https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/keep-our-youth-club-open-1

We’re already thinking about our next challenge – but for now, we’re letting the blisters heal and soaking up the achievement.
