Marianne Lownsborough, known to us as ‘Maz’ and who lives and works in Pocklington, has been involved in YPC from the start.
She has always been concerned about the right provision for children and young people and felt that there was little support for them in the local area. After the closure of the old youth centre, Maz was the driving force behind establishing the charity YPC alongside Les Slow, the other of our remaining founding trustees.
Maz ran her own Playscape training company from an office in Pocklington and she has always been involved in community development. Her vision for the future focussed on the need to support young people locally and she continues to be a strong advocate for the disadvantaged and vulnerable.
Her drive and enthusiasm will be missed by the trustees, our volunteers and the young people she has worked so closely with. Maz is now focussing on her career in counselling and therapeutic work with young adults - and we wish her all the best with her new venture.
